These are just a few of the many projects I worked on while working at Terabyte.
The content editors have to maintain large amounts of promotions weekly for this supermarket chain. I created the functionality to allow the editors to upload large spreadsheets containing hierarchical data that would create product promotions within the content tree tagged, priced and pictured. Before the data is saved, the editor is presented with a preview of the data for import to allow for review.
New World would send out weekly emails to a massive amount of subscribers (largest known around 400k members - approx 9% of the population)
New World had reached the limit of the Umbraco member section. They had so many members that the alpha list would no longer expand as it had reached JSON length limit. Also the section had become increasingly hard to manage as the speed has reduced greatly such that it was taking approximately a minute to load or save members in the CMS.
I was required to create a new membership provider that implemented the ASP Membership and would also communicate new subscriptions and changes to members to their new shopping application system. I used TDD and created an integration test project to ensure the code would perform all actions required. Also the shopping system required the ability to send subscriptions and updates to the main application such that I had to create an API for that system to communicate with that mirrored their own.
Once the membership section was complete it was tested with heavy load and was capable of holding at least a million members without any noticeable degradation in performance.
This is where I have come from
Senior Backend Developer
Terabyte are a full service web design and development agency - one of the oldest and most reputable in New Zealand. The agency specialises in bespoke, user-centric solutions for corporate, nonprofit and government clients.
I started at Terabyte as a front-end developer but I was quickly recognised for having a natural ability for logic and functional programming so I was moved to the back-end team. I received Level 2 Umbraco certification training when the company decided to shift to Umbraco from Terabyte′s custom CMS. As an open source platform with its own developer community, we found Umbraco to be a much more efficient, scalable and supported framework.
At Terabyte I worked in a highly team-focused environment with both waterfall and Agile/Scrum methodologies. I worked on array of projects including new sites, reskins, optimisation, consolidation, replatform projects, ecommerce solutions, website web apps, responsive and mobile websites, and APIs. We often had to work against tight deadlines and I was always dedicated to my work and would put in long hours when needed. I always advocated best practice for web standards and worked with the team to deliver a high quality, smooth sailing, web experience for our clients.
I was lead developer on approximately 30 website builds and have been involved in the continuous maintenance, improvement and upgrading of over 60 sites at Terabyte. I have worked with some of New Zealands leading brands.
